Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions apply to your use of the applianceslocal.com website and every order placed with applianceslocal.com.

Our customer service is second to none and we wish to ensure that you are happy with your shopping experience.  The following sets out the terms and conditions that apply to your order.

Our contract with you

When you place an order, you are offering to buy the product(s) from us and we will send you an invoice.  However, your order shall only be accepted by us once we place the product you have ordered onto the delivery van and only then shall a legally binding contract be formed between us.  Until then we can decline to supply the goods – we will try to ensure that this never happens but we do however, reserve the right not to fulfil your order for any reason if, for example, we have made an error on the price or similar or we simply can't get hold of the model you need.  In the event of these circumstances we will refund you any price you’ve paid to us.

We display our availability on the website and contact you after your order has been placed.  We deliver many products each week and rely on a computer system for our stock control.  Computers are better than people at this stuff on a big scale but even they occasionally get it wrong.  If we get this wrong we will tell you as soon as we know and we will try to sort it out for you.

Website information

We try to specify accurate dimensions for every product listed.   However, please be aware that the product dimensions do not include any protruding features such as controls and handles etc and product dimensions represent the casing of the product only.  Whilst we try to be as accurate as possible, all sizes, weights and measurements quoted on the website are approximate only.  Similarly, we've made every effort to display all product colours accurately.  However we can't guarantee that the image displayed on your monitor will accurately reflect the true colour of the product delivered to you.  Please also be aware that colours may differ between manufacturers.  Whilst every effort has been made to ensure that product specifications are correct on the website, due to continual product development through research & design, specifications may change without notice.

We are entitled to change or amend our website without giving you notice (but the terms and conditions applicable when you placed your order will continue to apply to those products).

All the prices we display include VAT, which is the full price to be paid (we also display the price excluding VAT, which is helpful for our trade customers) and exclude delivery and other services such as recycling of your old product, or installation.

From time to time we may offer products at sale or promotional prices.  Any such offers will apply to selected products and be subject to availability.  Delivery charges, conditions and geographical exclusions may apply.

Prime Appliances – if you require urgent delivery/collection of an appliance, please contact us before 1pm and we shall be able to supply you with goods on the same day.

We currently do not offer extended warranty on trade account purchases, unless the product is going to be located at the same address as the account holder.

To open an account you must run a UK based business which has been trading for 2 years (exceptions may be permitted so please contact us on 01243 842024).

A credit facility may also be added to your account, so please ask for details (additional terms and conditions will apply).

We use PayPal payment gateway for all online orders, and this doesn't cost you any extra.   This also allows customers who do not have PayPal accounts to pay by debit or credit card.  If there are any problems with receiving payment we'll let you know.  Applianceslocal do not store any credit/debit card information.  Applianceslocal.com is not resposible for any paypal related issues. Shipping for any product(s) will not take place until and the total amount is received in our paypal account.

The products we sell are often big and heavy things to lift, so there will be certain occasions when members of our staff may simply be unable to get it into your property.  Lots of steps, narrow corridors, radiators and restricted parking are all things that may hinder our ability to deliver only or deliver and install.  In these situations we may only be able to offer delivery to the nearest point possible i.e. your garage, so you can make arrangements to get the product in.  If you have paid for installation and this also happens to be beyond our control, we shall happily refund the installation charge and allow you to make alternative arrangements.  If you have paid for us to recycle an item, the same applies and you must seek alternative arrangements, we shall refund the charge.

If you wish for applianceslocal.com to deliver to an alternative delivery address, on the day, which can accommodate the delivery, there will be an additional charge of £30 within a 15 mile radius from our address (payable in advance via phone payment).  If the unforeseen might happen, and delivery is required further-a-field, we suggest calling to establish a delivery price.  In either case, we shall try our best to deliver on the same day that has been arranged, but we may have to re-schedule the delivery to a more suitable day for both parties.

Occasionally something will happen out of our control that closes roads, like floods snow or other adverse weather conditions or things like, sporting events which result in closed roads.  If you've already selected your delivery date and you're affected, we'll contact you as soon as possible to arrange alternative delivery options.  We will do what we can, but can’t be held liable if we can’t fulfil delivery due to reasons beyond our control.

As with all deliveries, please ensure you fully check your product for any damage immediately, ensure you do this before signing for the delivery, if the product is damaged then refuse to accept and return with our delivery & installation team, once you have signed for the goods to have been received in good condition we can not accept any responsibility for damages.  Applianceslocal.com does not deliver to NI and outside of the United Kingdom.

Gas Safe Register is the official list of gas engineers who are qualified to work safely and legally on gas appliances. By law, all gas engineers must be on the Gas Safe Register, and our installation members are no exception. Gas Safe replaced CORGI, and you should only use a Gas Safe registered engineer to fit, fix or service your appliances.  We use a third party to carry out gas installations for our customers.

The small print – what you need to know and do

  • We're unable to cut back work tops and remove carcasses to allow the change from an old integrated appliance to your new freestanding model.
  • We can only connect your new appliance to an existing electric and/or gas supply within 1.5 metres of the installation location, with an accessible isolation switch.
  • For electric and induction hobs and electric cookers, there must be an adequate electrical supply based on manufacturer's recommendations.
  • There must also be an adequate gap (as per the manufacturer's recommendations) between the heat source and whatever is above it in your kitchen.
  • There can be no combustible materials (including paper, wood and Formica) to the rear of the heat source or in the exclusion area (as outlined in the manufacturer’s instructions).
  • If your worktop does need to be altered for a hob, we're only able to do this if it's wood-based as we're unable to alter corinth, granite or ceramic worktops.
  • For gas hobs and gas or dual fuel cookers, if the product is destined for a flat, multi-user dwelling or shared occupancy building (including where a single room is let out), the item must have a Flame Suppressant Device (FSD).
  • The existing gas supply must be within 1.5m of the installation location and a 13amp electric supply within a metre.
  • If you have a conservatory to the rear of the kitchen, this must have an air brick in the wall or additional ventilation.
  • Our installers will have to interrupt your gas supply to allow a safe installation, so we'll endeavour to restart any gas appliances in your home. However, please note that we're not responsible for any appliance that fails to restart, including central heating and gas boilers.
  • For integrated ovens, the housing must be ready-assembled and be the correct dimensions for the new product, as we're unable to undertake carpentry to amend existing carcasses.
  • For both extractor and circulatory type cooker hoods, the 13amp electricity supply must be within a metre of the installation location.
  • For an extractor, we'll connect the hood to an existing extractor fan, position correctly and connect to the correct ducting; as this is not supplied, you must already have the correct type and size of ducting kit. The aperture must be the correct dimensions for the hood, and for both types of hood the wall or ceiling must be of suitable construction to bear the weight. We won't expand or reduce vent holes, or install a hood where this might contravene the requirements of nearby appliances.

An additional note regarding all built-in appliances, hobs and hoods

The standard charge for built-in appliances, hobs and hoods – covers the standard fitting of the appliance.  The sections of small print above, under the section heading of Installation Prices & Requirements, show many reasons for installations not going ahead under the ‘standard charge’.  However, in addition to the fee that has been charged, we may be able to assist you with corrections/alterations.  Many of our online competitors will not be able to offer this service, but we like to go the extra mile to satisfy our customers.

A member of our team will assess the installation on arrival before unpacking your new appliance and let you know of any potential problems, notifying you of any additional costs.  Also, if problems are discovered during installation, you will be notified of any additional costs for the installation to continue.  In this case you will need to call the store and a payment can be taken via phone.  If you choose to not go ahead with the installation from the start or during the process (due to the additional costs), we shall simply ask you to sign, stating that you have opted to not proceed with the installation process.  A) If work has not commenced, we shall refund the ‘standard’ installation cost of to you.  B) If works commenced in any way and you decide to not allow the installation to continue, no refund for the installation will be offered.

We can assure you that 99 out of 100 installations will run smoothly, but if for example

the housing for an integrated oven is not of the correct dimensions for the new product, we may be able to undertake carpentry to amend existing carcasses.  Therefore, we will charge for this work and save you the time and worry of finding a carpenter to carry the relevant works.

We offer responsible removal and recycling of all appliances when you have a new item delivered, on a like-for-like basis.

Appliance removal and recycle £15

  • Before our delivery team arrives, please make sure the old appliance is empty of any water and we shall disconnect from the water and electricity (or gas) supply.
  • If it's a tumble dryer, please empty the condenser water tank and we shall disconnect the vent hose for you.
  • If disposing of a fridge or freezer, ensure it's completely defrosted, wiped dry and clear of food.
  • Please note that we do reserve the right to refuse to collect any item we believe constitutes a health and safety risk to our employees, or anyone working on our behalf.

If you're not happy with your product or simply change your mind you can return it within 14 days of delivery and receive a refund.  If it is difficult for you to return the product, please call as for a charge, we may be able to collect the product.  We’re happy for you to unpack the appliance and inspect it properly as you would had you bought the item from a shop.  However, if you have used it beyond this, this may have a knock on effect on our ability to sell it to someone else and so where the value of the product is reduced by your use we may only make a partial refund (equal such reduced value) or subsequently charge you for the reduction in value.  Your refund will be made within 14 days of the product being returned to The Appliance Centre, 70-72 London Road, Bognor Regis, West Sussex, PO21 1PT.

Our 14 day cancellation policy also applies to any additional services you may have ordered. If you have ordered any additional services for a product then these will be automatically cancelled when the order for that product is cancelled, unless the service has already been performed.  If you order an additional service and expressly choose for that service to be carried out within 14 days of order (by nominating your desired day of delivery or otherwise), then you are deemed to have waived your cancellation rights and we shall not be under any obligation to refund any charges paid for any such additional services.
